FAQ

Aori is free to download. You bring your own AI provider key and pay that provider directly for usage. Some providers have free tiers; Groq is usually the easiest place to start.

No. Aori has no cloud backend for your app data. Conversations, settings, memory, API keys, and local file references are stored on your device.

Cloud AI providers and cloud integrations still receive the data needed for the features you choose to use.

When you use a cloud AI provider, Aori sends the information needed for that request: your message, relevant conversation context, selected memory snippets, file excerpts, and Skill results such as Notion or Google data if you asked Aori to use them.

Can I use Aori without Telegram or WhatsApp?

Section titled “Can I use Aori without Telegram or WhatsApp?”

Yes. In-app chat works on its own. Telegram and WhatsApp are optional channels for messaging Aori from places you already use.

Telegram lets you create a bot account for Aori. WhatsApp does not. Connecting WhatsApp links Aori to a real WhatsApp account you control. We recommend using a separate SIM card and separate WhatsApp account for Aori instead of your main personal account.

Does Aori support multiple channels and threads?

Section titled “Does Aori support multiple channels and threads?”

Yes. Aori can be used in-app, on Telegram, and on WhatsApp. Each chat, channel, and thread has its own conversation context, so a private in-app conversation does not become the same conversation as a Telegram or WhatsApp thread.

Personas are named versions of Aori with their own role, tone, and handle. You can create Assistant or Friend Personas and switch in any chat with a slash command such as /aori, /leo, or /planner.

Aori can connect to Ollama on desktop if you already run Ollama locally. Aori does not bundle models or provide mobile local inference in this launch.

Aori is available for macOS, Windows, Linux, and Android. iOS is planned for later.

Yes. You can connect a Local Folder or Obsidian Vault so Aori can read, search, index, create, and append files within the chosen location. Aori does not get broad access to your whole computer.

Yes. Notion and Google Account are cloud Skills. Notion gives Aori access to selected workspace knowledge. Google Account supports Gmail and Calendar capabilities. Sensitive write actions require approval.

Yes. Use the STOP control in the app or the relevant channel command when available. Sensitive actions such as sending email, writing calendar events, updating Notion, or overwriting files require approval before execution.
