In-App Chat and Conversations

The in-app chat is Aori’s built-in way to have conversations. Unlike channels (Telegram, WhatsApp), in-app conversations never leave the app — all data stays local on your device.

You can have as many open conversations as you want. Each conversation is independent — Aori does not carry context from one conversation into another unless you ask it to.

Conversations appear in the sidebar (desktop) or the chat list (mobile). Tap or click a conversation to open it, or start a new one.

From the conversation list or the three-dot menu inside a chat, you can:

ActionWhat it does
New conversationStart a fresh thread with no previous context
RenameGive the conversation a meaningful name
ArchiveHide it from the main list without deleting it
ForkCreate a copy of the conversation at its current state, so you can explore a different direction
DeletePermanently remove the conversation and its messages

Each conversation thread maintains its own active Persona. Type /<handle> at any point to switch Personas mid-conversation. The switch applies to all subsequent messages in that thread. See Personas for details.

In-app conversations are stored only on your device — Aori has no cloud backend for app data. If you connect a cloud AI provider, your messages are sent to that provider to generate a response — see Privacy and Data Flow for details.

Conversation search is planned for a future release.
