What is Aori

Aori is a cross-platform personal AI agent designed to live where you do. Whether you’re on Android, macOS, Windows, or Linux (and soon iOS), Aori provides a consistent, context-aware assistant that runs on your own device. Unlike traditional chatbots that start every conversation from scratch, Aori is built to learn about you, remember your preferences, and act proactively on your behalf. Best of all, Aori is “Bring Your Own Key” (BYOK), meaning you connect it to your preferred AI provider and maintain full control over your data and costs.

What makes Aori different?

Aori isn’t just another interface for an LLM; it’s a persistent agent with several key advantages:

  • It remembers: Aori features a sophisticated three-layer memory system. It logs raw conversations, extracts important facts about your life and preferences, and organizes them into a searchable knowledge base that it uses to provide better assistance over time.
  • It acts proactively: Beyond just responding to questions, Aori can run routines. It can send you morning briefings, daily news summaries, or heartbeat reminders without you needing to prompt it every time.
  • It works where you are: You aren’t tied to a specific app. While Aori has a full-featured in-app chat, you can also interact with it entirely through Telegram or WhatsApp.
  • Your data stays yours: Aori runs on-device. Your memory, settings, and API keys are stored locally. There are no Aori servers storing your personal conversations or data.

To get the most out of Aori, it’s helpful to understand its boundaries:

  • Not a cloud service: We don’t host the AI or your data. If your device is off and you haven’t set up a background service, Aori won’t be able to respond.
  • Not a standalone email or calendar app: Aori doesn’t replace your inbox; it integrates with it. It’s an assistant that helps you manage those tools more effectively.
  • Not a general chatbot: While it’s great for chatting, Aori is specifically optimized to be a persona-driven agent that understands your context.
